Let’s Try to Not Sound PreTENTIOUS.

I like to moonlight as award-winning, published author because it’s true in a technical sense, and there’s no real other way I can communicate to you that I know a thing or two about writing.

In the high school years, I had a teacher that commented on my “well above average” writing abilities, and I think that went to my head. From then on, I guess I pushed for even better writing abilities until I became editor for the school newspaper. That was a lot of fun, and that made me think I wanted to be a journalist—until I graduated and really took a hard look at what journalists do, not to mention the (lack of) income. But, I had established this rapport in high school that I would be published at a young age. Does 30 still count? I think we all hoped for 18.

I kept writing fiction in my free time, and in 2016, my short story Bleakpointe won 1st place in a creative writing anthology, and was subsequently published. As I drudged through the nightmarish 20s and found myself a father to a wonderful little girl, I learned the lifestyle of self improvement. My tribulations have been drained into a perpetual blender of observation and experience, to each form an important lesson to understand.

Fast forward to now, I have really committed to becoming a self-sufficient, full-time writer…somesay. My purpose in “extracurricular” writing is to inspire, inform, and ultimately help others who are needing more direction in their life.

This is for my little Ella, as I am determined to leave a legacy that makes her proud. Thanks for reading.
